WAJO, INDONESIA--Ten Southeast Asian nationals and nine foreign countries' flags wave in Wajo, South Sulawesi, Indonesia during The 1st Global Contest of Islamic Classical Text Reading (Musabaqah Qiraatil Kutub International I) in the next 7-days.
Besides the foreigners (pupils and students of Islamic boarding school) from across Southeast Asian region, there will also be thousands of Indonesian pupils and students in the Land of La Maddukkelleng (ancient King of Wajo) to compete in The 8th National Contest of Islamic Classical Text Reading (Musbaqah Qiraatil Kutub Nasional VIII).
"From the Islamic boarding school to the World" becomes theme for the 2025 MQKI and MQKN edition.
Malaysians, S'poreans, Bruneians, Thais, Vietnamese, Cambodians, Filipinos, Burmese, Timorese, and Indonesians Islamic boarding schools' pupils and students to compete in severals events, a liaisons officers told this media.
Opening Ceremony would be held on Tuesday, October the 2nd, 2025 at Macanang as well as at Sengkang's Ummul Quraa' Grand Mosque. Hundreds of scouts will, in the afternoon, be in Macanang As'adiyah Islamic Boarding School for the Camping of the Archipelago's Islamic Boarding School Students.
The local committee and the officer of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs to hold, in the same day, technical meeting at Lapongkoda and Ma'had Aly Sengkang (two of four As'adiyah Boarding School Campus).
There will also be International Ulemas Gathering. Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic Indonesia Nazaruddin Umar would arrive at Ummul Qurra' Grand Mosque on Friday morning (October the 3rd, 2025) for the Fajr Inspiration event, followed by K.H. Said Agil Husain Al-Munawar in the following day.
The most unique event is Islamic Boarding School Expo at Sengkang's Merdeka (Independence) Square. Indonesian national singers to entertain the public in a music performing at Merdeka Square in the so-called Night Inspiration.
